The Schuhplattler und Trachtenverein Almrausch is a non-profit (501c3), non-political cultural organization supporting cultural diversity and ethnic understanding through the preservation and perpetuation of traditional Bavarian and Tirolean folk dancing, music, customs, costumes and culture. We celebrate and exhibit this ethnic heritage through public performances, demonstrations and education.
The STV Almrausch was founded in 1996 and reorganized in 2000, and we have performed at festivals, parties, and celebrations throughout the United States and Europe. From mountaintop Gasthofs in Austria, to restaurants in England, and festivals in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Virginia, members of the STV Almrausch have be entertaining audiences for over 30 years. Members have even performed at the famous Hofbrauhaus in Munich, Germany!
Our “Festtracht” – our most formal costume – is from the Oberer Lechgau
region of Bavaria… the area near King Ludwig’s famous castle Neuschwanstein.
But as a “Trachtenverein”, or costume club, we also wear traditional
costumes from other regions of Bavaria such as the
Allgäu and
Berchtesgadnerland.
We are very glad you visited today. Come browse our website, and learn more about the STV Almrausch!
